 Volunteer Information Pages
 

The 2007-2008 Volunteer Information Pages (VIP) will soon be on the way out to service units. Each troop will get one copy. Make sure to attend your local service unit meeting in October for your copy.

We are pleased to announce the VIP is available on-line at www.gsep.org in the Current Members section. Forms in the VIP are posted as well - additional forms will be posted in the near future. Later this fall, forms currently posted in PDF format will be updated to a fill-able format.

 Girls Today Leaders Tomorrow (GTLT)
 

Discover the leader in you! Four girls from Girl Scouts of Eastern PA will have the opportunity to represent Girl Scouts in a special Leadership Program for 6th - 8th grade girls, coordinated by United Way of Southeastern PA.

The year long GTLT program includes:
*A weekend leadership retreat to Fellowship Farm Oct 26-28, for an intensive teambuilding and leadership training
*Monthly leadership activities
*The Women's Initiative celebration dinner
*$350 scholarship award for successful completion of the program

Criteria for selection:
*Be in grades 6-8 for the 2007-2008 school year
*"B" or "C" grade point average on last report card
*Demonstrates regular school attendance
*Have ability to participate in all monthly program activities
*Be a Girl Scout for at least one year prior to September 2007
*Complete an application form

Destinations Information Nights

Cost: $2.00 per person
Ages: Cadettes and Seniors
Attend one of the information nights to learn how to apply for a Destination, which is an educational trip sponsored by Girl Scouts councils across the country and around the world. Workshop includes information on how to pay for the trip by selling Girl Scout cookies. Fee includes pizza, salad, and soda. Parents are encouraged to attend!

Dog Mushing at Dutch Springs in Bethlehem PA
Date: October 20, 2007
Time: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Cost: $39.00 per girl and adults are free
Ages: Cadettes and Seniors
Learn how sled dogs are trained, what they eat, which dogs are best for each type of mushing, how and when they are disciplined and more.

Spooky Ridge
Dates: October 19, 20, 26, or 27
Times:
Evening hours - see Program Guide
Cost: $6.00 per girl
Ages: All ages
Spend a very spooky time exploring either Shelly Ridge (October 19, 20 26, 27) or Camp Tohikanee (October 26)! This event is planned and carried out by Cadettes and Seniors.

Sunday Sundae
Dates: October 7
Time: 3:00 - 4:30 pm
Location: Shelly Ridge or Camp Tohikanee
Ages: Cadette and Seniors
Cost: $4.00 per girl
Help is need for the Spooky Ridge adventures. Get service hours and do something really cool for younger girls. Ice cream sundaes are provided while you plan. Sing up to help as a tour guide, plan a spooky skit with your troop, etc.

 Training News!
 

The GSEP training schedule is updated on the GSEP website each week. Visit http://www.gsep.org/pages/members.html and click on the "current training schedule" link to view a comprehensive, all-council schedule and instructions for registration. On-line Registration is available through E-council for all trainings. Schedules are also available through our service centers. Please note that the volunteer application and clearance process does not need to be completed prior to attending training, but should be complete before you meet with your girls.

 Join Us for Bus Tours of the GSEP Camps!
 

Hop on the motorcoach bus, and take a tour of many of the GSEP camps! Tours depart at 8:00 am and return to the original pick up point by 6:00 pm.

Cost is $25 and includes a camp lunch. Register on E-Council and click on the Program Calendar. Please visit our camps page and download the information.

 E-Council Registration
 

The E-Council database is now available for service unit managers and troop leaders (registered as the "01") to view membership information on-line. Please visit the Current Members' page at www.gsep.org. If you have not yet received a user name and password, you can request access to this feature by filling out this form. Please note: registering for program and training on-line does not require a user name or password.

 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards for Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts
 

Girls who have provided significant community service over the past year are strongly encouraged to apply for the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. This unique youth recognition program has recognized more than 75,000 middle and high school students over the past 12 years. Top winners receive sizeable cash awards, engraved medallions, and an all expense-paid trip to DC for the national awards ceremony in May 2008.

Girls who have recently earned their Gold or Silver awards are especially encouraged to apply for this recognition.

To apply, please go directly to the Prudential website at www.prudential.com/spirit, and download the form. Or contact Sharon Pirelli at the Girl Scout office at (215) 564-4657 for a paper copy. It must be completed, signed, and received in the GSEP office by October 31, 2007.

 Delegate Training
 

All delegates for Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania must complete delegate training in the new Council. Please plan to attend a training on October 13 at the Valley Forge Service Center. We will discuss the Delegate Position Description, GSEP By-Laws, and the role of the Delegate.
