Heroic Girl Scout from Our Council Saves Next Door Neighbors From Fire

Ten year-old Girl Scout Alicia Rohr of Troop 4911 in Greater Coatesville earned the thanks of her next door neighbors on Cambridge Road when she alerted them to the danger of a nearby forest fire on Sunday, March 30.

Alicia was playing outside her home with her grandmother, her younger sister and cousin when she and her grandmother noticed smoke coming from a forest fire, burning only a few feet away from the home of neighbors Craig and Cristina Farrand. Keeping a cool head, Alicia ran to the other house and began ringing the doorbell and then banging on the door and crying to get the Farrands’ attention, said her mother, Anabela da Silva.

When the neighbors finally came to the door, Alicia told them of the forest fire and they escaped without harm. And their home was undamaged by the blaze, which took about two hours to get under control by area firefighters. Her mom said the thankful neighbors told Alicia, “You are our hero!”

It's an Election Year!
